I read that the Damascus barrel was employed first in the manufacture of these shotguns, but that they later used a stronger steel. Seeing as my serial number is so much higher than most, I am wondering if I have one of the last firearms manufactured by the Baker Gun company. BTW, the grip, receiver, and barrels all have the same serial number. I have 12 GAUGE PARKER DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN WITH HAMMERS. IT HAS A SERIAL NUMBER OF 2921. Barker and images may be seen. In 1867 Baker is in Lisle, N.Y. Making muzzle loaders, conversions, two and three barreled breechloaders, all of which were marked W. Baker until 1877.
